The racers of the SuperLite class rolled into Lake Elsinore, CA ready for the second half of the race season. A quick walk around the pits talking with drivers it became very evident that the two new drivers in the class, Ricky James and Andrew Comrie-Picard were making all the drivers a bit nervous and nervous they should be. Following Friday practice and qualifying Ricky James driving for So Cal Super Trucks lead everyone else, he turned the fastest laps followed closely Joey Granatelli and by young hot show Dawson Kirchner. Local favorite Chad Leising who before this race weekend was 2nd. In points missed every session on Friday and would have to start the race from the back of the pack. Luckily for Chad he did get to turn a few hot laps on Saturday just to ensure the truck was capable to race.

We are half way through the 2009 season of the Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series, each and every race weekend the action gets better and more exciting. A new class to off road racing this year, the SuperLite Championship has had a great start with close, action packed racing and a handful of different drivers on the podium. “The crew at Speed Technologies (The team behind the SuperLite class) have put together an amazing format with this class, they have made the racing very even and affordable at the same time which gives new drivers a place to enter the sport of off road racing. For Bully Dog the class makes a lot of sense for our business as we are able to reach the consumer directly in various ways. The ability to rent a race truck for only $7500 for a race weekend, the amount of television exposure and the strong foundation made it a very easy choice for us to get involved” states Mike DeFord of Bully Dog Technologies.

This past weekend saw a number of big things from the new Bully Dog SuperLite Championship at rounds 5 and 6 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series. And while all were a little shocking, most could have been predicted by anyone that follows off road racing. A large and shocking disappointment this weekend was the fact that Ricky James, a new racer to the series who will be racing with hand controls due to the loss of movement in his legs would not end up racing his new SuperLite. The new truck had just been completed and there were a couple of unforeseen tuning issues with the hand controls on the truck. The team, which is sponsored by So Cal Super Truck, plans on testing the new truck over the next few weeks in time to have Ricky ready to go for the next race in Lake Elsinore.

Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2009 Bully Dog SuperLite championship have come and gone and what an impact the class has made. 2 days of exciting racing saw a new race winner on top of the podium along with some familiar faces. Going into the weekend there was a lot of buzz in the pit on Thursday and Friday. There were a few new trucks in the class, the first being the Geico Powersport/E3 Spark Plug truck being driven by Jason Patison and the second truck, sponsored by XDP. This truck was supposed to be driven by Sirius radio personality, Jason Ellis. Unfortunately Jason was unable to make the race in AZ, taking his place behind the wheel would be Corry Weller, a local UTV who has won her fair share of UTV races over the past few years.
