Chad George has the genes, the mindset and the hair-trigger reflexes to dominate dirt tracks and stand on the top of the podium each time he gets behind the wheel of a SuperLite truck.
Born into one of the sport’s deepest family traditions — the Funco Motorsports family — knobby 4-wheelers and dirt tracks were a part of George’s life from infancy on, and that family tradition has stoked a competitive fire and unbridled passion for the sport — two qualities that keep George taking the checkered flag in front of stadiums full of SuperLite fans.
“This is what I love to do. I live, breath and sleep racing,” said George. “Not a day goes by that I don’t think about racing. It’s a lifestyle for me. It is not just something I do on the weekends. Some kids of had soccer growing up — I had racing.”
At 23, George is already a mature racer who has dialed in the tactics that will make him a force on dirt tracks for years to come. But he’s also one of the brightest up-and-comers in the off-road racing world, with some of his most productive racing years ahead of him.
“I have a pretty good mixture of aggressiveness and patience. That’s what it takes to be consistent. You will win every so often if you race aggressively, but there is a lot of risk in that.”
Standing in second place in points in the 2010 SuperLite Championship, George says his proudest moment in SuperLite came the first time he took a race win.
“That was when I tasted it —when I got the real taste for what it is about. You are on top of the world,” said George. “The feeling you get when you know you have driven your hardest and won — it is a sense of accomplishment that can’t be found anywhere else.”
After proving he has the skills needed to lead the SuperLite pack this year, George will be gunning for a SuperLite series championship next racing series.
And with plans to jump up into the pro classes in the future, George is sure to be in the spotlight of off-road racing, and thrilling stadiums full of fans, for years to come.
“The competition is something I thrive on,” said George. “Being with the race fans, shaking little kids hands, hanging out in the pit, and getting behind the wheel — it is what I live for.”
